AVON PHILIPPINES OPENS YEAR WITH GOOD NEWS FOR EDITORS OF TOP PUBLICATIONS

Against the bleak backdrop brought on by the global economic slowdown, Avon Philippines becomes the bearer of good news and hope for the countless who are on the verge, or worse, already in the throes of economic despair. The news: even as businesses are closing down and doors are being shut, there are still limitless opportunities to earn…the Avon way.

Avon Philippines President and General Manager, Bob Briddon, shared the good news of the Avon Earnings Opportunities in a special round table session with the lifestyle and business editors of the country’s top newspapers, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin and Philippine Star. During the event, he shared, “These are very challenging times and so many people are asking how could they survive on limited, if not zero, income. Avon can be the answer.”

Mr. Briddon also shared how Avon’s 122-year history is peppered with periods of great challenges and triumphed. He pointed out how this proved as true in the Philippines.

Briddon said,”In a country buffeted by political and economic crises year after year, Avon Philippines held on and emerged to be the no. 1 direct selling company, a leadership it holds to this day.”

To highlight and provide more credence to the Avon Earnings Opportunities, Avon Sales Leaders like Maritess Lim of Shaw, Mary Gail Ouano-Villafane of Cebu and Gebelyn Balajonda of Cabanatuan had the honor of sharing their Avon success stories with the press guests. The journalists were truly awed by the rewards these young Sales Leaders have already gained from the Avon earnings opportunity.

Maritess Lim, a Sales Leader from Shaw, likened the Avon Earnings Opportunity to a gift that she left unopened. Like a rebellious daughter who didn’t want to follow in the footsteps of her successful Avon Representative mother, Maritess had sought employment elsewhere. But her stints as a Medical Representative and a Bank Teller left her with no fulfillment.

“A client’s huge savings account was my wake-up call”, Maritess shared. “I realized this very simple man had so much more money than I did because he had a business of his own. And it dawned on me that I can do the same thing. And what better business is there than Avon!”

Now, Maritess is equally successful as her mother and enjoys the many benefits she gets from her Avon earnings.

“My husband and I are now partners in our Avon business. The money we earn allows us to take family vacations to different countries. We were able to buy our own house and just recently, I had been able to buy a brand new car as a gift for my husband!”, Maritess shared with pride. But more than the material benefits, Maritess derives a deep sense of fulfillment from her Avon business.

Mary Gail of Avon Cebu has her own interesting Avon success story to share. Having joined Avon at the young age of 19, Mary Gail’s only aim was to earn a little extra money while she was still in school.

“But when I started attending the meetings and trainings and saw how successful the other Avon Representatives were, I realized that being an Avon Representative is something I should take more seriously. I was hungry to succeed and I knew that Avon could help me be successful,” Mary Gail said.

Passion to succeed coupled with Avon’s trainings and guidance paved the way for Mary Gail to taste triumph even at a young age.

“I was only 25 when my Avon earnings enabled me to help my father in building our own home. I would not have achieved this at that age if I had been a regular employee. Avon made my dreams come true,” the young Cebuana enthused.

Meanwhile, Gebelyn Balajonda of Avon Cabanatuan can very well become an inspiration to those considering employment abroad. Like countless others, Gebelyn had thought that the only way to earn big was to work abroad. As a means to supplement the family income, she signed up as an Avon Franchise Dealer.

“It really all started with a dream.I wanted to become the boss of my own business,” Gebelyn shared. “But I was so mindful of my limitations --- I didn’t have a college degree, I had no money to start a business. But Avon overlooked all these limitations and looked only at my potential.” Starting with just P10 to buy the Avon brochure, Gebelyn went on her way to a brighter, better future. Her dreams are coming true, one by one.

“My Avon earnings enable me to send my children to private schools,” Gebelyn shared. “Just last year, my husband and I were able to build our dream house. I never ever thought that would happen. But Avon helped make that possible.”

Invited guests included the Philippine Daily Inquirer Business Columnist Tina Dumlao, Philippine Daily Inquirer Lifestyle Writer Alex Vergara, Philippine Star Lifestyle Associate Editor Tanya Lara, Manila Bulletin Associate Business Editor Bernie Cahiles-Makilat and Manila Bulletin Lifestyle Writer Owen Alcaraz.

The event is part of Avon Philippines’ Representative PR onslaught for the first quarter to share the Avon earnings opportunities. This was preluded by the publication of full page full color advertorials within the country’s top newspapers last January 5, the first official working day after an extended holiday break.
