Domestic Violence has been an issue talked about in hushed tones for its sensitivity and polarizing nature. For years, the painful truth is something women had to live with- until now. With alarming statistics surrounding the issue and with women at its core, Avon took the challenge to help these women take the first step, speaking out.

Speak Out Against Domestic Violence is Avon’s global campaign whose mission is to address this social issue for women who don’t have the courage to leave the situation and eventually break the cycle altogether. In the Philippines, we launched this advocacy to members of the press, luminaries and change agents last February 24 at the Filipinas Heritage Library to add our voice of support.

Avon also announced television show host, actress and style icon Ruffa Gutierrez as the crusade’s local spokesperson.

The event was hosted by Boy Abunda and well attended by celebrities, public officials, NGO representatives, and civic leaders. This also became the venue for a forum featuring notable panelists who shared their insights and views on the domestic violence cause.           

As one in three women becoming victims of this social disease, our company believes that it is each person’s responsibility to take on the advocacy to help become part of the solution. Let the message ring true loud and clear- Speak out for yourself or for someone you know.
